Butterfield Ranch is a community in the southern most section of the city of Chino Hills. We bought our first home in 1989 located in the New Traditions tract. Butterfield was just being developed at that time. There was no elementary school, no Mystic Canyon Park, no Hunters Hill, no Sonora Springs and I remember taking a walk along Mystic Canyon and coming face to face with a cow that had wandered down from the hills. The 71 freeway was just a 1 lane highway with a couple of passing lanes. Boy how times have changed. I look at the traffic on the 71 in the morning and realize that we don't exactly live in the boondocks anymore! As our family grew and we eventually decided to move to a larger home. We did not move far, finding a home in The Meadows tract just north of Butterfield Ranch Road. This was the second of four homes we have owned in Butterfield Ranch. Our girls attended Butterfield Ranch Elementary prior to Townsend Junior High and Chino Hills High School. The reason we have stayed in Butterfield Ranch all these years? Well, it just feels like home!
